What does one bad mobilization really cost?Beta

A crew shows up and can't work: a missing part, no access, the wrong drawings. The wages are the part you see. This calculator follows the miss as it cascades into remobilization, other trades, management time, and schedule recovery, then shows how much of the job's margin it eats. Every price is editable, so set it to your market.

Your job

What's this?

The hourly cost to the shop, not the worker's wage. Includes base wages, payroll taxes (FICA, FUTA/SUTA), workers' comp and liability insurance, health and other benefits, training and certifications, uniforms and PPE, and PTO and holidays. Enter what your shop actually pays.

Customize for your shop (advanced)

These costs are already in the total. Change any number to match your shop. Blank counts as zero.

Your crew

Remobilization repeats 85% of the idle crew labor, not the truck cost. Overtime adds a 50% premium on the lost hours. That is the extra half only, not the full time-and-a-half wage. Change both under Multipliers.

Shop prep
Shop and support overhead

Shop support defaults are placeholders until calibrated. Hours for a role = (crew on site x hours per crew member) + (equipment value / $10,000 x hours per $10,000).

If the foreman is already in the crew size, lower the Foreman row so the same hour is not counted twice. Coordination meetings here are ongoing support, separate from the response meeting below.

Other trades and coordination

The complexity multiplier applies to this layer only. A custom item placed in this layer is included in that multiplier.

    The math, line by line

Not counted: bonding, reputation, cash flow, warranty, morale, and safety. This is a floor, not a ceiling. Estimates are for planning, not accounting.

We are still calibrating some defaults, such as shop support hours. If a number looks wrong, something is confusing, or a cost your shop sees is missing, let us know. A screenshot helps.

Most bad mobilizations start with something nobody could find.

A strainer stand that wasn't on the truck, a valve buried in a submittal. Documint PM keeps every spec, RFI, and critical component in one searchable project memory so the crew rolls out with what the job needs.
